Black Friday 2026 store report

We checked 100 well-known Shopify stores before Black Friday. Most don't say when your order will arrive.

On 4 and 5 November 2026, we opened the product pages of 100 well-known US Shopify brands on a phone, like a holiday shopper would. Here is what we found, and what to fix on your store before Black Friday on 27 November.

72

of 100 product pages don't say when your order will ship or arrive

0

show a last day to order for Christmas

31

don't mention returns or a guarantee on the product page

97

scored under 50 out of 100 in Google's phone speed test

The short answer

  • 72 of 100 product pages give no delivery time or date.
  • 0 of 100 show a Christmas order-by date. Only 2 show one for Thanksgiving.
  • 31 of 100 say nothing about returns on the product page.
  • 52 of 89 make phone shoppers scroll to find Add to Cart.
  • 45 of 99 pages with reviews hide the star rating from Google.
  • 97 of 100 scored under 50 in Google's phone speed test.

01

Shoppers can't see when their order will arrive

72 of 100

product pages give no ship time and no delivery date

2 of 100

show a real delivery date, like "Get it by Wed"

A holiday shopper has one big question: will it get here in time? On 72 of 100 product pages, the answer was nowhere on the page. Most stores leave it for checkout.

Only 2 stores showed a holiday order-by date, both for Thanksgiving. None showed a last day to order for Christmas yet.

Who does it well: Ruggable and Grove put a Thanksgiving order-by date at the top of the page. Cozy Earth and Blenders Eyewear show a real delivery date on the product page.

Why it matters: If a shopper can't see a date, they may leave to find a store that shows one. In late November, the date is often the deciding detail.

02

Return promises are missing on a third of pages

31 of 100

say nothing about returns, refunds or a guarantee on the product page

Most stores have a return policy. But on 31 of 100 product pages, the shopper has to go looking for it. A "Shipping and Returns" link alone did not count.

Why it matters: Gift buyers worry about the wrong size or the wrong color. One line like "Free 30-day returns" next to the button takes that worry away.

03

Add to Cart is out of sight on over half the pages

52 of 89

pages where we found the button made shoppers scroll to reach it

We loaded each page on an iPhone-sized screen. On 52 pages, the Add to Cart button was below the first screen and did not stick to the bottom as you scroll.

Why it matters: Every scroll is a chance to get distracted. A sticky Add to Cart bar on mobile is a small fix.

04

Most product pages are heavy on a phone

We ran each product page through Google Lighthouse. It is the same lab test behind Google PageSpeed, so you can run it on your own store. It acts like a mid-range phone on a slow mobile connection.

97 of 100

scored under 50 out of 100

99 of 100

took more than 4 seconds to show the main image or text in the test

0 of 100

hit Google's 2.5 second target in the test

The middle score was 27 out of 100. The middle page loaded 7.9 MB across 603 files.

This is a tough test. Shoppers on new phones and fast Wi-Fi will often see faster loads than this. Each page was tested once, and scores move a little from run to run. The totals across 100 stores are what count.

Why it matters: Most store visits now come from phones, and ad clicks cost more in November. A heavy page wastes the click you paid for.

05

Pop-ups and banners cover the product

18 of 100

opened with a pop-up or banner covering a third of the phone screen or more

Most were cookie or privacy banners (15). 3 were sign-up offers. On 3 pages, the product still had not shown up after 12 seconds.

06

Google can't read the star rating on almost half

45 of 99

pages with reviews don't give Google the star rating in their code

Reviews are everywhere. 99 of 100 pages had them. But on 45 of those, the rating is not in the code Google and AI shopping tools read (called review markup).

Why it matters: Stars in search results and AI answers help your product get picked. You already have the reviews. Let Google see them.

What stores did well

88 of 100 pages told shoppers the shipping cost or showed a free-shipping line before checkout. Only 1 store blocked AI shopping bots. And 6 stores already had Black Friday or Cyber Monday deals on their homepage.

Who does it well: These 21 stores showed all three on the product page (shipping cost, a ship or delivery time, and a return promise): Burrow, Alo Yoga, SKIMS, Ruggable, Ridge, HexClad, Beardbrand, Girlfriend Collective, Cozy Earth, Sunday Citizen, Avocado, Casper, Tuft & Needle, LMNT, Brightland, Koio, Blenders Eyewear, Pela, Draper James, Brunt Workwear and True Classic.

Do these 5 things on your store before Black Friday

  1. Show a delivery time under Add to Cart. "Arrives in 3 to 5 days" works. "Get it by Friday" works better.
  2. Add your Christmas order-by date now. Put it in the top banner and on product pages.
  3. Put your return promise next to the button. One short line is enough.
  4. Open your best seller on your phone. Can you see the price and Add to Cart without scrolling? Does a pop-up cover it?
  5. Test your speed at pagespeed.web.dev. Shrink your biggest images first, then remove apps you no longer use.

Questions about this report

What did the Black Friday 2026 store report check?

We opened the product pages of 100 well-known US Shopify brands on a phone on 4 and 5 November 2026. We checked delivery times, return promises, Add to Cart, pop-ups, star rating code and speed. We used public pages only.

What is the most common product page mistake before Black Friday?

Not showing when the order will arrive. 72 of 100 product pages gave no ship time and no delivery date. Only 2 showed a real date.

Should I show a delivery date on my product page?

Yes. Put a delivery time or date right under Add to Cart. "Arrives in 3 to 5 days" is good. "Get it by Friday" is better. Holiday shoppers want to know it will arrive in time.

When should I add a Christmas order-by date?

Before Black Friday. On 4 to 5 November, 0 of 100 stores showed a last day to order for Christmas. Add it to your top banner and product pages as soon as your carrier cut-off dates are set.

How fast should a Shopify product page load on a phone?

Google's target is for the main content to show within 2.5 seconds. In Google's Lighthouse phone test, 0 of 100 product pages hit that target, and 97 scored under 50 out of 100.

Why does star rating code matter for my store?

It lets Google and AI shopping tools read your rating. 45 of 99 pages with reviews did not include the rating in their code, so the stars may not show in search results.

Can I share or quote these numbers?

Yes. You are free to share or quote the numbers. Please link to this page as the source.

How we did this

We checked 100 well-known US-selling Shopify brands on 4 and 5 November 2026. All checks used public pages only: the homepage and one featured product page per store. We used an iPhone-sized screen from a US location and read only what was on the page. We did not add items to carts or start checkout.

Rotating banners and text in tabs were counted as shown, so each store got the benefit of the doubt. Every "missing" result was checked a second time against the page code. Speed numbers come from Google Lighthouse (mobile, default settings) run from a US server, one test per page.

Pages change daily, so some stores may have fixed things since. We report totals only. We name stores only for things they do well.

Stores checked: Allbirds, Alo Yoga, Athletic Brewing, Avocado, ban.do, Beardbrand, Blenders Eyewear, Blueland, Brightland, Brooklinen, Brunt Workwear, Buck Mason, Burrow, BÉIS, Caraway, Casper, ColourPop, Coterie, Cotopaxi, Cozy Earth, Cuyana, Dagne Dover, Death Wish Coffee, DIFF Eyewear, Dr. Squatch, Draper James, Dropps, Edikted, Everlane, Fenty Beauty, Floyd, GHOST, Girlfriend Collective, Glossier, goodr, Graza, Great Jones, Greats, Grove, Haus Labs, HexClad, HydroJug, Jambys, Jeffree Star Cosmetics, Kitsch, Kittenish, Knockaround, Koio, Kosas, Kylie Cosmetics, Laird Superfood, Liquid Death, Liquid I.V., LMNT, Lunya, Mack Weldon, Made In, Magic Spoon, MaryRuth's, Misen, Morphe, Mrs. Meyer's, MUD\WTR, MVMT, Naked Cashmere, Native, Negative Underwear, Nomad, Nomatic, Olaplex, Olipop, Our Place, Outdoor Voices, Owala, Parachute, Partake, Pela, Pura Vida, quip, Rare Beauty, Ridge, Ritual, Rothy's, Ruggable, Set Active, Shady Rays, SKIMS, Stanley, State & Liberty, Summer Fridays, Sunday Citizen, The Beard Club, The Sill, ThirdLove, True Classic, Tuft & Needle, TULA, UNTUCKit, Vuori, Yogibo.
